Jake's first altercation at "school"

On April 15th Brad and I got the dreaded call from daycare that started with, "Jake is ok, BUT..."  Unfortunately I missed the phone call from KidTech and Brad, but when i looked down and saw the two missed called i knew something must be wrong.  I think my heart skipped a beat as I rushed to call Brad back and find out what was going on.  He explained that Jake was bitten by a little girl in the toddler class...We had started transitioning him and letting him go down to the toddler class the week before just to get used to the new routine and teacher.  Well anyway, they said he was ok but the bite looked pretty bad AND to make matters worse it is smack in the middle of his cheek!

Well after talking to Brad I called KidTech and was assured he was doing ok and I did not need to come pick him up.  The rest of the workday seemed to creep by as I finished the important work I needed to do and then I was off to pick up my baby boy.

Well, when I walked into the room I knew it supposedly looked bad but that did not prepare me enough for what Jakes poor little face looked like!  It was terrible.  He had four little teeth scrapes, a bruise, and then two little red spots from the bottom teeth that broke the skin a tad.  I couldnt help but tear up when i first saw him.  Needless to say he got a lot of extra loving that weekend.  And it also happened to be Jake's cousin's first birthday party so everyone got to see his face all bruised up.

Jake loves play time with his cousins!  Alli and Katie are so good to him!

Jakes first experience with baloons...he LOVED it!

Happy Birthday Will!

Such a fun daddy!!!

Spring days and first steps!

We've had some amazing and beautiful spring days here in TN in the last few weeks (March)!!  Jake has been loving the sunshine, neighborhood walks, and even lounging in the front yard (in the pack n play) while important work is completed around the house!  Last week we went to our neighborhood St Patricks Day party and it was amazing to watch Jake as he watched the big kids.  I held him for a little while when he got antsy in the stroller but we could tell what he really wanted was to get down and play with them.  I'm sure it wont be long!

On March 23rd Jake took what we consider his first steps.  It was along the couch and only about two steps before he toppled over but either way he took a few steps!  I cannot believe how quickly he is growing up!

Here is a quick video of the first steps we caught on video.  So fun!
