Jake updates

Jake went in for his 15 month checkup the last week in September and our little man is just growing growing!  He was 28lbs 2oz (92%) and 33 inches long (95%).  Our pediatritian keeps saying eventually he will fall into the growth curve and he will slow down but we havent experienced that yet!  :)

When we were in the office, Jake was chattering away like normal and the doc told us Jake talks like a girl...at first I was unsure how to take the comment but then explained that on average girls talk more than boys at a younger age.  Jake just has a large vocabulary for his age.

Here are some of the words in his vocabulary today...but seems like every day he learns another new word.  :)
  • Dada - one of his favorites
  • Hello - probably his second favorite
  • More - he uses the sign language with that one
  • Mine - I admit I'm not thrilled he knows this word already
  • No & Yes - and he knows when to use both of them!
  • All gone
  • Book
  • Cup
  • Milk
  • Dog
  • MaMa - occasionally
  • PaPa
  • Coo-kie (cookie)
  • Cracka (cracker)
  • Blaket  (blanket)
  • Fooball (football)
  • Baball (baseball)
  • Aca (Oscar our dog's name)
  • Ta Ku (Thank you)
  • Go
  • Sock
  • Shoo (shoe)
  • Uh-Oh
  • Eye
  • Ose (nose)
  • Petty (pretty)
  • Pane (plane)
  • Bubble
  • Horsie
  • Please - signlanguage only
As you can see our little man has quite a vocabulary for his age!  I love to hear him say new things each day.  Just like the other day a plane flew over and he looked up and pointed while he said "pane".  I know we didnt work with him on that so it caught me off guard that he knew the word.  He is also a HUGE fan of the "ball" that comes out in the sky at night!  He love to go to the front door and look out the window and point at it.

Another thing that is one of our favoites is that he knows so many body parts and the noises that go with animals.  I can ask Jake to point to his head, nose, ear, eye, mouth, knee, foot, toe, and belly button and he happily shows them to us.  When he first learned belly button he was amazed that we all have belly button's and kept walking around pulling up Brad and I's shirt to see our belly buttons.  It was cute at home, but we were very worried he was going to pull up someone's shirt at school.  hahaha

Today we go back for Jake's one month check up from the surgery.  We are feeling very good about how well he is healing.  The scar is so small and barely noticable under his eyebrow.  Also, we have not gotten a call from the dr office yet so we feel fairly confident the pathology results are good because no news is good news.  :)

We are looking forward to dressing up for Halloween soon and visiting with family this weekend for Uncle Derek's annual birthday/halloween party and the Heacox family reunion on Sunday!  It is going to be a fun filled weekend ahead!
